RENTERS BEWARE! I’ve moved a lot over the last 7 years and worked with lots of rental agents in Boston/Brookline.
Tri-State is by far the most unprofessional and sleazy group of agents.
I primarily worked with Jody (the owner) who is probably the worst of the bunch.
He’s generally easy to get in touch with prior to collecting his finder’s fee, but once he has your money, forget it.
His cell phone will always go to voicemail, where his message actually tells you NOT to leave a message and to just keep calling.
I wasted hours just trying to get basic information from him.
On the flip side, I have also been a tenant in an apartment Tri-State was showing.
Jody showed absolutely no regard for my time and showed up late on a Monday night with zero notice.
He then proceeded to try to let himself and prospective tenants into my home.
I was in the shower and had to rush to the door, where he then stood there and didn’t introduce himself until I asked. I should have called the police right then and there.
This lack of courtesy continued for weeks. After Tri-State collected the new tenants’ finder’s fee, they then called me repeatedly to ask for information about the apt (how much are utilities? what are the measurements of each room? will you sell your furniture? can you move out 10 days early?).
They also complained about how the new tenants were difficult and gave them my personal contact information after I explicitly told them not to. Basically, they forced me to do their job.
Tri-State (and Jody) are extremely unprofessional. There are so many rental agencies in the area – don’t waste your time or money here.
